Investment Funds by Asset Type
Fixed Income Funds (Debt): These funds invest in government or corporate bonds. They are ideal for conservative investors seeking stable income.
Equity Funds (Stocks): Invest in the stock market, seeking greater long-term appreciation, assuming more risk.
Mixed or Balanced Funds: Combine fixed income and variable income to balance risk and return.
Money Market Funds: These funds invest in very short-term, highly liquid assets, considered low-risk.
Index Funds or Passive Management: They seek to replicate the behavior of a stock market index (e.g., S&P 500) rather than beat it, usually with lower fees.
Thematic/Sectoral Funds: These focus on specific sectors such as technology, health, renewable energy, etc.
Funds of Funds: Funds that invest in other mutual funds or investment instruments for greater diversification.
Public Investment Funds (Mutual Funds): These are funds that offer their shares to the general public and must be registered and supervised by the Superintendency of the Securities Market (SMV).
Private Investment Funds (PIF): Funds with a limited number of investors, often illiquid and aimed at sophisticated or institutional investors and do not solicit capital from the retail public.
IF-20: Limited to a maximum of 20 investors, generally related to each other.
PIF-50: Limited to 50 investors, they operate in/or from Panama but their quotas are not offered locally on a massive scale.

Alternative and Specialized Funds
Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs): These funds invest in real estate (shopping centers, offices, residential properties) to generate rental income or capital gains. Their management focuses on the development, purchase, and operation of real estate, with an obligation to distribute at least 90% of their profits.
Commodity Funds: They invest in gold, silver, energy or agricultural resources.
Private Equity Funds: Invest in companies not listed on the stock exchange.
